Cadets recognised with award of Tam O’Shanters

At the end of March, the cadet contingent paraded in the Front Playground in their Fallujah and Al Basrah platoons, names which derive from Iraq battle honours granted to the Black Watch (3 Scots), the affiliated regiment of the School’s CCF (Combined Cadet Force).

During the parade, Captain Fitzpatrick who commands 51 Cadet Training Team (North) presented the Junior and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (F5 and F6) with their Royal Regiment of Scotland Tam O’ Shanters, which include the famous red hackle associated with the Black Watch (Royal High Regiment).

The award of the hats represents the culmination of 3-4 years of commitment and effort on behalf of all the Non-Commissioned Officers and is also recognition of syllabus progress towards their Army Proficiency Certificate and future promotion.
