Bring Back Blue

Campaign launched in the hope Blue Planet Penguin’s flight from the school is a short one!

He’s been perched outside the school gates for the past eight weeks, so it’s no surprise we’ve grown rather fond of the colourful penguin which the School sponsored as part of Maggie’s Penguin Parade.

On September 7th though, Blue Planet Penguin and the 79 other giant penguin sculptures which waddled into Dundee and beyond over the summer for the charity public art event, will leave their current locations.

The penguin posse will then gather in Slessor Gardens for a grand farewell event on 22nd and 23rd September, before a spectacular auction of the splendid statues takes place at the new V&A Museum on 24th September, with the aim of raising the £540,000 it costs to run Maggie’s Dundee for one year.

As much as we wouldn’t want to stand in the way of penguins taking flight, we’d very much like Blue Planet Penguin’s time away from the School to be temporary! And of course, we’d like to try to help with the fundraising campaign for Maggie’s.

The School is therefore launching an effort to Bring Back Blue!

If you would like to help us raise enough money to make a successful bid for the pupil-designed-and-painted statue, and support Maggie’s, please visit our crowdfunding page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/bringbackblue

Any money donated will be given to the Maggie's Centre regardless of whether the School’s bid is successful or not.
