Art Tour of Scottish Parliament For Alumni
28th March 2020
Discover the Art of Parliament on this fantastic tour on Saturday 28th March, where guests will be able to view a selection from the Scottish Parliament Art Collection.
***Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, a decision has been made to postpone this event for the time being. We hope to announce a new date in the coming months.***
The collection on display throughout the Parliament building includes artworks from many Scottish contemporary artists showcasing a variety of types of work and media, from oil paintings to sculptures, photography, textiles and installations.
In this one-hour guided tour you will get to discover a wide selection of artistic works that are proudly on display throughout the Scottish Parliamentary building.
The wide array of artwork adds another dimension to the building, in line with the original intention that Parliament should embody the unique spirit and character of the Scottish nation. The key ideas and themes used to develop and shape the art collection include: our relationship with the environment, in particular the impact of humanity and politics on the landscape, our relationship with the sea, and our identity and history as people living in Scotland.
Over 40 Scottish contemporary artists have their artworks showcased in the very heart of Scotland's political hub and this art tour is well worth a visit for anyone interested in the arts itself or the history and people of Scotland.
