On this day in 1938, the very first edition of the famous comic was published.

And as the cartoonists of the original Bash Street Kids had taken much of their inspiration from looking out of their DC Thomson HQ windows to observe the School's playground opposite, it seems fitting that some of our current Junior pupils were on hand to mark the occasion!

With a BBC camera crew present, the youngsters had the chance to quiz the Beano's big boss (Head of Beano Studios, Mike Stirling) and to discover and present some fascinating facts about the publication.
