Description

Friendship in a Time of War, by Dallas Allardice, covers a young man’s journey from the playing fields of school and the farmyards of North East Scotland, to his training with the elite commandos and actions in the Second World War in Norway, Malta, the Middle East and Libya.

Predominantly focusing on friendships between ordinary people which were established in the most difficult circumstances, and that span generations. The book also highlights how its characters rose to the challenges they faced, in a victory of humanity over evil.

Edited by the author's son, Rory, who has taken the time to track down many of the protagonists in the story, and their relatives, and has highlighted the progression of these meetings within the novel.
