About

The High School of Dundee is one of Scotland’s leading independent schools and, dating from 1239, is among the oldest in the United Kingdom.

‘When my son and daughter started in F1 and L7 respectively, both were warmly welcomed by staff and pupils alike. The pastoral support has made transitioning from a small rural school to the High School very easy and far from daunting.’

It is a fee-paying, co-educational day school offering top quality, inspiring education for pupils from the ages of 3-18. Following the opening, in August 2014, of a brand-new Nursery alongside our top-of-the-range sports facilities at Mayfield on Arbroath Road, top quality education at the High School is now available right the way through from age 3-18.

The Rector, Mrs Lise Hudson, took up the position in January 2020.

Pupils are encouraged to adopt the traditional values of hard work, self-discipline and respect for others. We believe that every child has individual talents and unique potential and our entire educational process is based on the understanding that children need to have their potential recognised and nurtured. The High School provides a learning environment where every child can grow in confidence within stable and encouraging surroundings.

In its 770-year history, the High School has established a thriving community of past and present pupils and their families, with strong links to the wider community across Dundee and Tayside.
