A pupil's final year at the High School is an opportunity to develop and grow in maturity, self-awareness and personal levels of excellence.
Form 6 is designed to consolidate a pupil's learning to date, and pursue an individual course of those academic studies which will be of greatest benefit in his or her chosen path. It is also an opportunity to develop personally; through the pursuit of co-curricular activities, a structured programme of enrichment activities, and voluntary work. A programme of services to the School is also in operation, and Form 6 pupils may have the opportunity to take part in paired reading activities with younger pupils, assisting with the Junior School, Learning Skills department, and Library; and helping with Games coaching.
Alongside charitable and co-curricular activities, Form 6 pupils will have the opportunity to develop responsibility and teamwork by adopting roles as prefects or house officials.
Form 6 pupils may also participate in the Associate Student Advanced Entry Initiative, which allows pupils to combine Advanced Highers with a course of study at the University of Dundee. Subjects available include Philosophy, Psychology, Politics, Engineering and Physical Science modules. Subject to results in Forms 5 and 6, such pupils may qualify for guaranteed entry into Year 2 of some degree courses at the University.
