Report by Charlotte Collison, Ailsa Johnston and Grace Nimmo (F3)
So, third year ski trip, where do we start? Do we start with the fact that somehow the third years managed to obtain more injuries (all minor of course!) off the ski slopes rather than on them, or the fact that somehow Mr Jack managed to ski for a whole day wearing Mrs Craig’s boots without realising it?
All in all, the third years had a great time and are not likely to forget this trip for a long time.
We knew from the very first day, when we managed to almost knock over a perfume stand in the airport, and leave a bag at airport security, that this was going to be an eventful week. We arrived at our hotel quite late after a day of travelling, then that night many third years made the mistake of staying up too late, which resulted in the Sestriere Ski resort being greeted the next morning by a bunch of tired, grumpy teenagers. However, once kitted out with skis, boots and helmets and ready to hit the slopes, spirits rose and we headed out to the slopes where we were split into our different ability classes and met our ski instructors. We all had a great first day skiing, and the beginners realised that skiing was not as easy as it looked!
Our teachers had arranged a different activity for us every evening. These included ice skating, swimming in our hotel pool which resulted in more water being outside of the pool than in it due to endless cannon balls and belly flops, a disastrous evening sledging in which we managed to lose a trainer and an Ugg boot in the waist deep powder, a quiz night, a movie night and on our last night a presentation of our skiing certificates. Two of our ski instructors came to present us with our awards, but unfortunately the other two could not make it. We know that all of our instructors will be dearly missed, along with our fantastic rep Kim!
All the third years really enjoyed this eventful, fun filled week and are not likely to forget it for years to come! We would like to thank our amazing teachers - Mr Jack, Mr Gallagher, Mr McAdam, Mrs Craig and Mrs Smith - for making this week such a success and so enjoyable for us all.
