The Art & Design department is kept busy at lunchtimes with a variety of co-curricular activities.
The Textile Club is open to pupils in both Form 1 and Form 2, and is structured so that members in their second year with the club have the opportunity to take over responsibility for running and overseeing the activity.
The club teaches pupils the technique of felting with merino wool to produce their own handmade scarf. Alongside this, members are also offered the opportunity to design and make brooches to complement their finished scarves.
The Jewellery Club is run by Miss Douglas, an art teacher and trained jewellery designer. The club, which is open to pupils in both Form 1 and Form 2, teaches pupils a variety of jewellery-making techniques, such as soldering. Members also have the chance to experience and work with a wide range of different materials, covering everything from glass beads to knitted wire, to create exciting finished pieces.
Members of each club also take part in a regular exhibition, held in the school to showcase the pupils work.
