Dalnacraig Hockey Pitches Open

Tremendous news! We are delighted to report that on Monday 16 January the contractors handed over the keys for the new synthetic turf pitches at Dalnacraig. They are now ready for the school to use so this week the pupils will be able to begin practising and enjoying PE and games classes on these excellent facilities. This week the finishing touches will be added - trees should be planted and the access track completed - and we plan to have our first inter-school fixture this Thursday – a boys’ hockey match against Lathallan – followed on Saturday by girls’ hockey against George Watson’s and boys’ hockey against St Leonards. All that will remain to be done will be some landscaping, which will not be completed until the spring. We now have two first-rate pitches for the school to use. The water-based hockey pitch is of a specification that will allow it to be used by teams up to representative and national level, whilst the sand-dressed pitch is also of very high quality, but has the added advantage of being used for tennis. We are currently planning an official opening in March, and will confirm arrangements in due course. In the meantime we look forward to welcoming all parents, families, FPs and all those interested in the school to visit our facilities on match days.
