The World Schools Debating Championship 2011 was awarded to Dundee following a bid submitted by the Scottish Schools International Debating Council and Dundee City Council to bring the tournament to Scotland, a country which has enjoyed considerable success in previous championships.

High school teacher Irene McGrath is Chairman of the Scottish Schools International Debating Council and Convenor of the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) 2011.  “It was wonderful to see the results of our work come to fruition as the competitors streamed into Dundee earlier this week,” said Irene.

Dundee joins a prestigious list of host cities that includes Athens, Calgary, Seoul and Washington DC.
