It has been another year of outstanding examination results for the pupils of the High School of Dundee, with records broken in both F5 Highers and F6 Advanced Highers.
The Higher remains the gold standard in Scottish Education. F5 pupils performed very well to achieve a Higher pass rate of 95%, a record for the High School, beating the previous best by 2.8%.
Other Higher records were:
· 57% of all papers were A grade passes
· 20% of all candidates achieved 5 straight As
· 71% achieved 5 Higher passes
The F6 Advanced Highers also marked a record-equalling pass rate of 95%, with half of all papers at grade A - an unprecedented number.
F4 pupils also performed extremely well, achieving a 96.4% pass-rate at Intermediate 2. In addition, 91% of Standard Grade papers were passed at Credit level, with 70% of all papers passed at Grade 1.
Rector of the High School, Dr John D Halliday, said: “I am absolutely thrilled by these results. We nurture the youngsters in a structured, caring and supportive environment, at the same time as providing plenty of academic and personal challenge, delivered by a super team of dedicated teachers who go the extra mile and a half to bring out the best in them. Consistency and excellence of the teaching is so important. It is wonderful to see this reflected in this excellent set of results.
“It is interesting to see that we manage to achieve such great results whilst offering so many subjects, including 20 at Advanced Higher.”
