Pupils at the High School of Dundee have successfully completed the Bronze award in the international Eco-schools programme.
The programme aims to make environmental concerns a central part of the life and ethos of the school, and requires pupils to work closely with staff and senior management to work on green issues.
At the High School, both the Junior and Senior School have pupils involved in the scheme, which has already seen participants carry out an environmental review, complete a subject audit to see what is learned about the environment across the curriculum, and hold an assembly on the topic.
With the support of staff, pupils are now working towards the Silver award, and examining the topics of waste minimization and energy use.
Senior School teacher David Summerville, who is involved with the project, said: “This award is a reflection of the hard work of both Junior and Senior pupils, who have already impressed us with their commitment and enthusiasm.”
