It has been another year of outstanding examination results for the pupils at the High School of Dundee.
The Higher remains the gold standard in Scottish Education. Form 5 (S5) pupils performed very well to achieve a Higher pass rate of 92.2%, matching the results of the last two years. 50% of all papers were A grade passes and a fifth of all candidates achieved five straight As. 43% of pupils achieved at least three A grades and 59% achieved five Higher passes.
F4 (S4) pupils also performed extremely well, achieving a 97% pass-rate at Intermediate 2. In addition, 91% of Standard Grade papers were passed at Credit level. For the second successive year three quarters of all exams were passed at the top grade, equalling last year’s record. 40 pupils achieved eight straight As, and 74 (64%) managed at least seven top grades.
Form 6 pupils achieved a very high standard for Advanced Highers, with 48% of papers passed at A grade, and 74% passed at A or B. Two pupils gained an outstanding total of 4 Advanced Highers at A grade.
Rector Dr John Halliday said: “Academic excellence is one of our strengths and so I’m delighted to see our pupils achieve the grades they deserve. As always there have been one or two wobbles along the way, but led and encouraged by our dedicated staff they have managed to pull off another very fine set of results. With focus, enthusiasm and a structured and supportive environment it is amazing what young people can achieve. I’m thrilled for them all!”
