Pupils at the High School of Dundee have been congratulated for their efforts in the academic year at the School’s annual Prize Giving ceremony in the Caird Hall. Prizes were awarded for academic, co-curricular and sporting achievements by the pupils.
The Harris Gold Medal and David Gray Book Prize for Dux of School went to Rachael McLellan for Arts, and Fiona Allison for Science. The E M Stewart Prize for Dux of the Junior School went to Kenny Matheson.
Guest of honour at this year’s ceremony was Mark Beaumont, who two years ago smashed the world record for cycling round the world in just 194 days and 17 hours. Mark is a former pupil of the school and has kept close contact with the School throughout his cycling experiences.
Rector of the High School of Dundee, Dr John Halliday, said: ““It is wonderful to be able to recognise the achievements of our young people in such a fine ambience as the Caird Hall, with prizes presented by Mark Beaumont, a former pupil, who is committed to the concept of Discovery in all its forms. That’s what schools are all about.”
