Ski success for High School

Ski success Jan 10Two first year pupils at the High School of Dundee have topped the table at the Scottish Schools Minors Skiing Championships.

Fraser Buchan and Kirsty Guest, both F1, took first place in the Junior Boys and Junior Girls competitions.

Fraser and Kirsty have already been selected to represent Scotland at the World Schools Championships in Italy in March, and travel to France this weekend for training with the British Ski Academy.

Commenting on the win at the weekend, Fraser said: “The weather wasn’t great, and skiing in it was definitely hard work!  The whole team was really happy to do well – there were a lot of good schools competing who have beaten us in the past so that made it much more special for us.”

“It was great that everyone from the High School got a medal.  We had a few new people on the two teams and they’ve fitted in really well,” added Kirsty.

In addition to the two individual successes, the High School also had the highest placed Boys team, with Fraser joined by team members Christopher Guest in F1 (2nd overall), Scot Buchan in L6 (4th overall) and Duncan Leese in F2.

The Girls also fared well,  with the team taking third place overall.  Team members were Hannah Douglas, Alice Burnett, and Sarah Emslie-Smith, all F2, with Kirsty.
