L1 pupils have the opportunity to attend a weekly Fun and Games Club after school.
Both L1 classes are mixed at the club, helping to build friendships across the year group through a varied and energetic programme of team games, ball games, listening games, playing with the parachute, and occasional singing, amongst other activities. The 25-minute programme runs non-stop without any breaks, to ensure that all the children are kept involved and stimulated at every moment.
As well as having fun and making friends, the club is an opportunity for the children to practise listening to and following instructions, and learning to be fair and responsible by following rules. By including some traditional and party games in the programme, such as Stuck in the Mud, Port and Starboard, and Duck Duck Goose, the club can also help to build the child's ability to interact with others outside the school environment.
