Adventure Service Challenge is a club for L5 pupils, similar in structure and aim to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award but for younger children.
Pupils undertake a range of activities, and are awarded a certificate on successful completion of the course.
The club year began with a project on the Hindu festival Diwali, for which beautiful Rangoli patterns were created in the courtyard garden using coloured sand and pulses.
Just before Christmas the group began planning and organising a visit to a local Nursing Home to entertain the residents with Christmas songs and poems.
The start of the New Year saw the group learning first aid and all about safety in the home, with all members passing a mini first aid exam.
The Home Economics department invited the group into their kitchens to make Fairtrade banana and chocolate muffins for Fairtrade Fortnight. Alongside this, the children learned about the charity and how vital it is that farmers are able to earn a fair living to support themselves and their families.
The summer term saw the club travelling to the Tentsmuir nature reserve for a project on wildlife.
Art activities and model making have also featured in the programme this year.
This club has allowed the children to work as part of a team, develop skills in different areas and have lots of fun in the process.
