Friends of High School of Dundee

On October 1st 1834, the Main Building, more popularly known as the Boys' School or the Pillars, opened to pupils, thanks to contributions to a building fund from an organisation formed in 1830, known as The Subscribers.  In 1988 the Subscribers became The Patrons and in 2008 we adopted our new name, Friends of the High School of Dundee.   Membership of the Friends, which is free, is open to anyone interested in the school, such as current and former parents, former pupils, friends and family, subject to committee approval.

The Friends exist to establish, develop and maintain close contacts and co-operation between members of the Friends and the School.  We are pleased to support and assist the Foundation's fundraising initiatives thus continuing our tradition of raising funds for the School.  We also nominate and appoint six Directors of the School.

We look forward to welcoming new members and would ask you to fill in the membership form and return it to the Secretary, Mrs Jen Petrie.
