House system

Every pupil is allocated to one of the four traditional School houses - Airlie, Aystree, Lindores and Wallace – so that relevant staff get to know each pupil well.  Pupils come under the care of the same member of the Guidance team throughout their education in both Junior and Senior School.  All the members of one family will be allocated to the same house.

The House system also strengthens the School community by providing a means to build links between pupils of different ages, through sporting events, charity fundraising, and the system of awarding House points, through which all pupils can help their House to secure the House Shield.

Each of the four Houses was named after a significant individual or location in the High School’s history: Airlie, believed to be named after the Earls of Airlie and the Airlie Estates; Aystree after the home of one of the School’s benefactors; Lindores after the Abbot and Monks of Lindores, who founded the Dundee Grammar School in 1239, to which we can trace our history; and Wallace after William Wallace, who is reputed to be a former pupil of the School.
