The High School is an all-through school, offering education for children between the ages of 5 and 18. Pupils complete seven years of schooling in the Junior School, and a further six years in the Senior School, following the Scottish primary and secondary education structure. In our Junior School, year groups are referred to as Lower 1-7. In the Senior School, year groups are referred to as Form 1-6.
The Junior and Senior Schools are closely linked, with many Senior School teachers working with Junior pupils on a regular basis. Transition to the Senior School begins in the upper years of the Junior School, as pupils are steadily introduced to new elements of the curriculum, including Home Economics and Modern Languages. Junior pupils in L6 and L7 will increasingly spend more time within the Senior School buildings, and work more closely with Senior School teachers, to make the move to the Senior School as easy as possible.
The day-to-day running of the School is undertaken by the Senior Management Team, made up of the Rector, the Deputy Rector who is also Head of Senior School, the Head of Junior School, the Bursar and five Deputy Heads within the Senior and Junior Schools.
Overall responsibility for the administration of the School lies with the Board of Directors. Board members are elected by bodies within the School and business communities. There are also six co-opted members.
