Educational aims

IMG 6499We believe every child has individual talents and unique potential and our entire educational process is based on the understanding that children need to have their potential recognised and nurtured. While traditional values of hard work, self-discipline and respect for others prevail, the School is forward-thinking, offering a progressive approach to education which integrates the most worthwhile and proven developments - academic, technological and pastoral.

Our aim is to provide a secure and caring environment in which each individual has the opportunity to fulfil his or her potential. The High School of Dundee is a predominantly academic school and each year the vast majority of pupils go on to university. However, the development of a pupil’s personality involves more than high standards in academic fields; there is a wide range of co-curricular activities, many undertaken to high levels of achievement, and a strong corporate life.

In the Junior School there are presently two classes at each stage from L1 to L3 and three classes at L4 to L7. Class sizes vary but are usually in the low to mid-twenties.

Education in the Senior School is offered to pupils aged from twelve years to eighteen years. Classrooms and laboratories are well-equipped. Information and Communications Technology is widely available throughout the School, including a computer-based resource centre in the Library and self-contained IT suites.
